Time to Reflect – Digital Learning
Are you the clued-up type, or perhaps don’t even know what ‘digital’ means?
Either way, this is the course for you.
The Red & Yellow Digital Marketing online course has the right amount of information for novices, enough guidance to self-study the principles and see practical examples, and yet will still be challenging if you are a master of none or a jack of all digital trades.
Starting out on this journey, my expectations were quite low as I didn’t completely see how I would be able to apply these skills later in life or even within the workplace immediately. However, I found the course to be really refreshing and comprehensive.
I felt eager to see what was to come with each week’s module, and how I could grow digitally. I could feel the excitement in the voices of the people handling the course when they spoke about the part of marketing that appeals to them and spices up their own life. I could see the passion of everyone involved, and it made me very excited to realise how much more I could still learn about my industry.
Recruiting for digital
Being a recruiter, I knew the digital terminology and what kind of expertise was expected (as stated in a generic job-spec), but now (hopefully!) as a soon-to-be Digital Marketing graduate, I know how to really ask the detailed questions, and how to spot a great digital marketer when I see one and put them forward to my clients.
From a consumer point of view, my perception of digital marketing has also changed, and with it, I’ve developed a hunger to learn more about new-age ways of marketing and understanding the ideas behind brand campaigns.
From a consumer point of view, my perception of digital marketing has also changed, and with it, I’ve developed a hunger to learn more about new-age ways of marketing and understanding the ideas behind brand campaigns. I have a greater appreciation for the way brands implement digital, and the effective ways one can be digitally savvy.
You are probably wondering what digitally savvy means? It’s exactly what I have learnt on this course – if a brand really cares about the customer and takes a customer-centric approach, you’ll be able to see it. From the way they represent themselves, to the way they talk to customers, to the way the website is designed to complement the product/service. These elements all align to make a product/service successful or make people aware of a brand. As a consumer, I’m much more likely to pay attention to and respect brands whose digital marketing stands out.
Work-life balance
This course has been challenging, mostly due to the fact that I have a full-time job and I’ve had to balance work and play once again. Something I would like to see in the future is for students to be able to submit assignments when they’re finished and then able to begin the next module’s work immediately. I know that a benefit of online learning for many is the community element – having study buddies that are doing the online course with you – but each work week is different and for me personally, it might have been easier to access things sooner versus waiting for the dreaded Monday 12pm deadline!
Was the course worthwhile?
I feel that this course is a great training tool to facilitate growth within the digital field – this includes all spheres that make up the marketing field. I feel this has changed my way of thinking and doing things; I now respect great Digital Marketers and what makes them good at their jobs; I know how to challenge knowledge and, ultimately, evaluate brands by considering a variety of elements.
After studying the Digital Marketing Course, I’ve become like a curious little girl; explaining ideas and new marketing functions to my MD and fellow colleagues, as well as what we can do differently in our recruiting work. Digital truly is different and if you, your brand and company want to stand out, digital will show you the way! If this kind of knowledge is what you feel you’re lacking, then I recommend you take this course.
I feel that the Red & Yellow course definitely stands out above some of the other online courses available. A few of them are available completely free and others cost a fee. I, however, feel that this course will benefit a candidate, showcasing determination and attitude of ongoing learning, characterises that employers value. Within the digital industry, this course is also very reputable.
All done!
Whew, what a jam packed 10 weeks! On to the next one soon!
